General FAQ

Quick answers to the most common questions about AudioHaven.

What is AudioHaven?

AudioHaven is an audiobook and podcast app that skips the content you choose while you listen, like profanity, violence, or sexual content. Think of it as ClearPlay or VidAngel, but for audiobooks and podcasts.

How does the filtering work?

During playback, our custom audio player monitors your position in the audiobook. When you approach a segment that matches your filter preferences, the player automatically seeks past it in real-time. You hear everything you want and skip everything you don't.

Do you modify the audiobook files?

No. The original audiobook is never altered. Filtering happens in real time during playback, and no edited copy is created. ClearPlay uses the same approach for movies.

What content categories can I filter?

There are 9 filter categories: Profanity, Slur, Hate Speech, Blasphemy, Violence, Sexual Content, Romance, Crude Humor, and Substance Use. You can turn each one on or off, turn its Mild, Moderate, and Severe levels on or off, and turn single words on or off in the language categories. You can also change the filters for one book without touching your defaults.

Who tags the content?

Every audiobook and podcast is reviewed by real people. Our team screens each title, then checks every segment in a waveform-based tagging tool, so a human reviewer confirms every filter before it goes live.

What can I listen to?

Public domain classics, a large library of podcasts, and modern audiobooks that already have filters. You can link your Libro.fm, AudiobooksNow, or Downpour account, or import any DRM-free audiobook you own, and your filters apply when the book matches our filter catalog. If it doesn't match, you can upload it and we'll make filters for it.

How much does AudioHaven cost?

The player is free. Filtering and the Librarian are part of Premium: $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year. Family covers up to 5 accounts for $8.99 a month or $74.99 a year. Both start with a 14-day free trial.

What is the Librarian?

The Librarian is a reading assistant in its own tab. Ask it for your next book or podcast and it suggests titles, finds the next book in a series, and adds picks to your to-be-read list when you ask. It's included with Premium and the free trial.

What platforms are supported?

AudioHaven is on iPhone through the App Store. The Android app is in open testing on Google Play, so you can install it now, and the full release is coming soon. CarPlay and Android Auto are supported for listening in the car.
