Uploading a Book for Filtering

If a book you imported doesn't match our filter catalog, you can upload your copy and we'll make filters for it. Your book goes through the same screening as every other book in AudioHaven, and a person on our team reviews every filter, checking its timing, severity, and category, before any filter is used.

Uploading is part of Premium and uses filter credits. It's available in the US, and child accounts can't upload.

Open the imported book and find the Filters card. Tap "Upload for filtering." The line under the button tells you whether it uses a filter credit and how many you have.

Confirm that the book is a DRM-free audiobook file you bought and that you have the right to upload it, and allow processing of the book. Then tap Upload.

From a linked store, you can tap "Get filters" on a book under "Needs filters" instead. That imports the book and uploads it in one step.

Uploads use Wi-Fi unless you turn on "Allow cellular data" for that upload. They keep going in the background, and an interrupted upload can be resumed from the book.

Most uploads are ready within 3 days. Longer books can take longer. The book's status shows Uploading, Processing, and then In review while we work on it.

We'll let you know when the filters are ready. On iPhone you can turn on a notification, and on both iPhone and Android you can turn on "Email me when it's ready."

Your file is kept privately so we can fix filter reports. It's never streamed or shared. You still listen to the copy on your device.

Reviewed filters may help other owners of the same edition. If someone has already uploaded your edition, you won't use a filter credit.

To remove your file, tap "Delete my uploaded file" on the book. If filters are still being made, we delete it as soon as they're finished.

Tap "Cancel upload" on the book to stop an upload. Your filter credit is refunded.

Only DRM-free files can be uploaded. Copy-protected files, like Audible's format, can't be filtered.

The book's file has to be on this device. If you've removed it, or the file has changed since you imported it, re-import the book and try again.

Very large files can't be uploaded. If you're out of filter credits, or you've reached this month's upload limit, the book's page tells you.

Filters are our best effort. Even after review, they can still miss content or flag content that doesn't need filtering. If you hear something that should have been skipped, use the Report button and we'll fix it.
